Unlocking Private Capital: Innovative financing mechanisms, such as green bonds and blended finance, are required to de-risk investments and attract private capital. Policy and Political Leadership: While finance and technology are crucial, strong policy support and political will are essential for accelerating the transition to a low-carbon economy. Transparency and Disclosure: There is a critical need for robust climate data and disclosure for investors’ decision-making and companies’ accountability.Just Transition: Ensuring a just and equitable transition to a low-carbon economy is critical.
Key themes for investment are: Nature-Based Solutions: Climate Week NYC 2024 highlighted the growing recognition of nature’s role in addressing climate change and the need for increased investment and robust standards in NBS. Scaling Finance for Impact: The need to scale up financing for NBS to achieve meaningful climate and biodiversity impacts was a key takeaway. Blended finance structures can be used to de-risk NBS investments and attract private capital.
