The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is the United Nations body for assessing the science related to climate change and it recently released its new report, with a key conclusion- we are in a climate emergency. The report outlines how human activity has ‘unequivocally’ changed the earth’s climate across every region of the globe, with some changes now inevitable and irreversible. We discussed the findings of the report and the next steps for the humanity with Assoc. Prof. Barış Karapınar. Barış is one of the lead authors of IPPC’s Fifth Assessment Report on climate change impacts, vulnerabilities and adaptation and serves as an arbitrator in the latest report as well.
